I made this card on My Digital Studio using the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge as inspiration. After making this I decided to make MDS my warm-ups for card making and scrapbooking. Everyone needs to warm up before they exercise - right?? I love the creativity that My Digital Studio (MDS) offers without all the mess or waste - and you can make as many mistakes as you want!
I've never thought of myself as an out-of-the-box thinker so when I see a sketch layout I tend to follow nearly exactly even though you don't have to. Sketches are designed to inspire so you can rotate the cards, change shapes, change embellishments, etc...as long as the same basic idea of the sketch is there. Here is the original sketch:
The paper I used was from the FREE download Stampin' Up! is giving EVERYONE because they have reached 100K+ fans on Facebook. You don't have to be a Facebook Fan to get the freebie, just answer a few demographic questions and off you go! The link for this Freebie is below and accessible until January 10, 2012. Below are the supplies I used for my MDS creation:
Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Thoughts & Prayers
Paper: Not Quite Navy, Day in the Life (#4)
"Ink": Pool Party
Accessories: Curly Label Punch, Pool Party brads
While I was at it I tried to make it a little different since it's so easy with MDS.
I used a different stamp stamp in the middle - Simple Friendship. Then I punched out a circle from pool party card stock by resizing the 1.25 circle punch to layer perfectly under this stamp and colored it with Pool Party. The stamp set Simple Friendship is no longer available for sale in the catalog because it has retired. However, nothing retires in MDS! So not only can you design with it for your digital crafting needs, you can also print it out onto card stock and layer it on your paper projects! (And there is never any shipping fees for MDS downloads) How cool is that???
Get this digital download (valued at $14.95) for free until January 10! If you need help with My Digital Studio - just ask! I'm happy to help with any projects you may have.
