Stampin Up Pocket Card - Recipe Idea

I know it's only September but it's time to start getting ready for Christmas. I created this for a swap with my Got Stamp Ink team of Demonstrators that I'm meeting with this weekend. We get together once a quarter to talk business, swap, eat, and of course stamp! I probably won't see these girls all together again until December so I wanted to use something with a Christmas theme.

This is actually a hybrid project using My Digital Studio. I love the newest version MDS2! If you don't have it - ask me how you can get your no-obligation free trial! I used a template that was included in the MDS2+ package, added text boxes for my ingredients and directions, resized it to my needs, then printed it on copy paper and layered it onto Cherry Cobbler card stock! If you don't have MDS or MDS2 you could just download the template (without using MDS) and use it any program that accepts image files - including Microsoft Word! (But MDS2 has so many more features!)

The Mixed Medley stamp set is full of cute little circles and scallops for many holidays and some generic ones to use all year long! This is a hostess set that is valued at $22.95 for a wood mount or $15.95 for the clear mount set BUT you can get either set (wood or clear mount) for only $10 when you have a party with your friends or place your own personal order of $150 or more!

This is a 2nd version I made as well! I love the paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Paper Stack. They are sized perfectly for a card. You get 4 of each design and I wanted to keep at least 2 of the 1st design so I chose another one from the stack of paper! Don't you just love the sparkle you get from the Silver Glimmer Paper! Check out the faux bow I made with the Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon and some linen thread!

This is what the Festival of Prints Paper Stack looks like. If you can see I made a label on the outside of the pad listing the coordinating colors so that I don't have to reference my catalog every time I want to create something with these papers.

As you can see from these 2 pages, there are some non-traditional papers that can be used for your Christmas projects - or all year round! I LOVE Stampin Up!

Here are the dimensions for the card:
  • Early Espresso Card Stock (CS) cut at 5-1/2" x 7-3/4" scored at 4-1/4" x 6-3/4" (you can get 2 of these per piece of CS)
  • Cherry Cobbler CS (layer on front of pocket card): 2-1/4" x 5-1/4"
  • Festival of Prints DSP: 2" x 5"
  • Cherry Cobbler CS (layer for recipe card): 5" x 3-3/4"
  • Cherry Cobbler scallop circle: 1-1/4" scallop circle punch
  • Silver Glimmer Paper: 1" circle punch
  • Lucky Limeade CS: 3/4" circle punch

  1. Carolyn what a great post. I love your idea of putting the corresponding colors on the outside of the paper stack. Super! Great little recipe card too. TFS.

  2. I love your recipe card. Funny, but I make those same cookies. My family loves them, great to make in the summer so you don't have to heat up the house. As soon as I purchase MDS2+ I will be making up some of these cards. Thanks for the great idea!
