I tend to go over and above when making cards - as if I just don't know when to stop. Sometimes a quick and simple card is just what you need! I was inspired by a card by Krista Dreissen where she stamped the banner from Hearts A Flutter 3 times and then cut them out with the coordinating framelit and tied it all together with coordinating ribbon. It was VERY adorable and pretty easy to do! However - I thought using her design would be a great way to to use my scraps of paper that I always vow I will use "someday!"
I made about 10 of these cards pretty quickly! I went through my paper and found my Everyday Enchantment DSP (which is now retired but available on the CLEARANCE RACK for $2.19!!!!) which was all scraps and the perfect pack of paper for this task!
I originally thought I would run 2 pieces of DSP together (which you can do with the framelit) but decided I still had to be frugal with my precious DSP and get the most use I could from those beautiful patterns and only run one piece of scrap through at a time. Here is my frugality at it's best!
Rather than cutting my paper back to back in straight line across my page I strategically placed my framelit to get the most use from my paper. As you can see, I almost didn't make it!. BONUS: I realized I had made some arrows in the process!!! (Some arent' that usable - but some are!) Do you think I threw that piece away? NOPE....maybe later I will but for right now I see a purpose with the arrows and the edges.
The great thing about this method is that everything already coordinates so it doesn't really matter which pieces I have used. I don't think any card was the same. I just mixed and matched what I felt was the right balance and tied it off with some Calypso Coral 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon and stamped "Thank You" with my Wacky Wishes hostess stamp. Easy Peasy!
What do you think? I would love to hear feedback or feel free to share your other simple card ideas.
