Best of Flowers - Stippled Hydrangea

Welcome back to another week of the Technostamper Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge! I am so excited to share this new stamp set with you! Before I do, here is the sketch:

This one really had me stumped for a few days....(yes I do think of my designs for quite a while if needed!) but I knew I wanted to use the Best of Flowers stamp set AND I have been challenged by my upline, Rene Watson, to use my color coach for as many projects as I can this month so.....

25th Anniversary Best of Flowers stamp set
here is the 25th Anniversary stamp set for March - Best of Flowers! I was so happy to see this set because 2 of the stamps I had seen since becoming a demonstrator, but never did get around to purchasing them before they retired. (I did pull out one of my old catalogs and compared the size of the silhouette stamp Upsy Daisy and noticed that the new stamp is a little smaller than the originally released one - so keep that in mind when choosing your Best of stamp sets.) There are so many great things you can do with these sets - and can you really have too many flowers in your stamp collection???

First I had to figure out what combinations in my Color Coach used a green color and which one would have a complementary option for the hydrangea. Surprisingly, there were quite a few options but I always like pink and grays together and knew exactly what color DSP I would use for this card. The flower I chose originally came in the Stippled Hydrangea stamp set.

Did you notice there are no words behind the flower blossom? The blossom is roughly the size of a 1-3/8" circle. So I created a mask by punching out the circle from copy paper and placing it on my cardstock before stamping the En Francais background stamp using Basic Gray, BUT there was an even larger circle for my blossom than I needed, so I downsized to a 1-1/4" circle - that seemed to be the perfect size! I inked up my background stamp with Basic Gray, then stamped it once on my grid paper and then a 2nd time on my card stock. Then I colored the stamp with Melon Mambo and Old Olive and lined up my blossom to be inside the circle as much as possible. Then I used my blender pen to pull the ink into the blossom and the leaves.

TIP: When stamping with a large background stamp, be sure to stamp on a sturdy/flat surface. I stamped on my craft table several times and I didn't seem to get even coverage on my card stock. When I moved to a countertop - it was much much better!

I layered the entire image and DSP panel onto Basic Gray card stock and also made the flag with Basic Gray card stock. I heat embossed "Get Well Soon" from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set in Melon Mambo embossing powder and layered a 7/8" scallop circle of Melon Mambo, with an Old Olive Designer Button and some Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine. I love that Old Olive and Lucky Limeade work so closely together!

I hope you like this card as much as I do and I hope the recipient of this card is cheered up the by bright colors and beautiful flower!
