TSSC286 - Best of Greetings sketch challenge

Happy Monday!!! Today is the last Monday of October - YIKES this year is flying by so quickly! It will be 2014 before you know it! Check out this week's Technostamper Sketch Challenge:

Here is my interpretation:

This card did not start out as I planned but I had so much fun creating!! I wanted a greeting to be the primary focus of this card. I never feel I have enough greetings in my stamp stash but I thought the 25th Anniversary set Best of Greetings was a great place to start!

The "Best of" stamp sets are great collections of the past and there is always 1 stamp image that is a brand-new never-seen-before image. (AND after purchasing 6 of these sets you can choose any stamp set valued at $14.95 or less for FREE)

I don't think I would have ever thought to use this color combination (Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green, and Crisp Cantaloupe) but I let the colors in the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper lead me!

Here are the details of my card construction:
  • Card base is made from Crisp Cantaloupe - 8.5" x 5.5" (score in half at 4.25")
  • Raspberry Ripple layer is cut at 5" x 3.75"
  • Birthday Bash DSP layer is cut at 4" x 3.75"
  • Crisp Cantaloupe 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim is 3.75" - I cut it at 4" and then trimmed it after adhering to the paper
  • Gumball Green tag base is cut at 2" x 1.5" and Very Vanilla layer is cut at 1.75" x 1.25"
  • Gumball Green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon is cut at about 2-3" (My Gumball Green tag base came from my scrap bin which had a piece of card stock embossed - but it's only faintly seen in the background and adds more character!)
  • Glue the ribbon trim to the back of the DSP using Tombow Multipurpose Glue (green lid). I held the paper to the ribbon for about 20 seconds then adhered the DSP and ribbon layer to my Raspberry Ripple card stock layer with more Tombow Multipurpose Glue. Then trim the ends of the ribbon to be flush with your card stock. Green glue (as I like to call it) is my FAVORITE of all the glues that Stampin' Up! offers - it's stronger than SNAIL and works great with 3D projects. However, you have to learn that A LITTLE BIT GOES A LOOOONG WAY! With use you will become a pro and know to just use "a little squiggle here and there" and not have glue oozing out the ends of your paper.
  • Adhere your Raspberry Ripple layer to the Crisp Cantaloupe card base
  • I rounded the top two corners of the Gumball Green and Very Vanilla card stock with my NEW Envelope Punch Board (Of course you can use your 7/8" corner rounder punch, but I wanted to play with my new tool!). Then I stamped the greeting in Gumball Green and adhered that layer to the Gumball Green layer.
  • Staple the ribbon to the front of the tag and trim the ends as necessary. Adhere the tag with dimensionals to the card front - DONE!

  1. Love this. I have never seen that pattern from the DP pack--everyone uses the other side. Very pretty. Love the focal point being the sentiment. Thanks so much for another great sample for my sketch challenge!
