Festival of Trees Sketch Challenge

Happy Monday! It's time for another Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge! Here is my sample for this week:

Check out this week's sketch:

I have been totally in the Christmas mood the last few weeks as I have been finishing up my projects I created for a craft fair I had on Saturday. Festival of Trees stamp set was an immediate love for me as soon as I saw it and I didn't wait to order it or the coordinating tree punch. Even better - it's photopolymer!!! Using photopolymer stamps is great when 2-step stamping is involved.

Pistachio Pudding is not a color I would have thought about using on a Christmas card but it was a color on the paper I used from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack.

 Here are the card details:

  • Card base is Pistachio Pudding followed by a pattern from Trim the Tree DSP Stack
  • I cut a strip of Early Espresso card stock and added Venetian Crochet Trim above and below the card stock as indicated in the sketch
  • I stamped a tree with Early Espresso ink on Whisper White card stock and stamped a Real Red tree base (love those photopolymers!) and cut out image with Oval Framelits. Then  I cut a larger oval from the Red Glimmer Paper for matting and mounted with dimensionals
  • I made a banner from Pistachio Pudding card stock and stamped a message from the Festival of Trees stamp set and used dimensionals only at ends of banner
  • I stamped the tree with Garden Green ink and punched out using the Tree Punch. I cut off the trunk and mounted the tree with dimensionals and punched a star from Silver Glimmer Paper and attached with Green Glue to top of tree.

Something about Christmas cards makes me want to "go all out" and decorate the inside too - something I wish I always did more often!

What do you think? Nothing fancy but that little touch can really make the difference!

We would love to see what you can create using this sketch! Head over to Mary Jo's blog listed below and enter your project using the sketch. Don't forget to check out all the other wonderful projects created by the design team this week!

  1. A really cute card, I love the ribbon you used for the scallops. Just darling, not sure why I didn't jump on this set when I first seen it, talked myself right out of it and now it is a bit late for me to be ordering it. This card makes me wish I had it though. Thanks so much for all the awesome samples for my sketch challenge each week--you are so talented!
