Happy Monday! It's time for another Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge! Before I get into the sketch challenge I am excited to share that I have been nominated by Mary Jo Price-Williams (aka The TechnoStamper) to be in a Creative Blog Hop. (Thank you Mary Jo!)
As part of this blog hop I will be sharing with you a project that I've been working on as well as answering four questions about my creative process. Let's go!
1) What are you working on? Currently I'm working on Valentine's cards and planning my Easter projects. I also have updated my planner to make sure that I send birthday cards to everyone I can - I have way too many birthday cards in my stash (and always making more!) and would like to make sure my family and friends know that I am thinking of them and want to share in their special day. Lastly (yeah right! It's a never ending list really...), I received a Silhouette Cameo as a gift (last year) and haven't really had the time to learn how to use it. This is the year!
2) How does your work differ than others in your genre? I like to say mine are clean and simple (but not with a lot of bare/white space). I like to make sure they are easy to mail without excess postage and are easy to reproduce by crafters of all skill levels.
3) Why do you create what you do? I have never felt (and will still tell you) that I was a creative person, but when I sit down with my stamps, ink, and paper - the creativity sneaks in! I LOVE LOVE LOVE to show others how easy it is to be creative without putting in a lot of effort (just a little practice!) Stampin' Up! shares the same philosophy I do - inspire.create.share
4) How does your creative process work? I like to start with a sketch - a road map of sorts! Then I look at what stamp sets I have that will work with the sketch and the type of project I'm working on. After I pick out my stamp I usually turn to my Designer Series Paper and choose my colors from the patterns in my paper. Sometimes I have a main color in mind which helps me narrow down my Designer Series Paper choices. Sometimes I have to immerse myself in pinterest for those subtle hints of inspiration - a technique, a color combination, a layering idea, etc....and I'm pretty good at CASEing as well!

I have never met (in person) these two lovely ladies but have talked with them LOTS! I met them through Stampin' Connection - a demonstrator-only resource - and have talked about how/why we create what we create or find new ways to do things better! I must say that I would never have met these ladies if it hadn't been for Stampin' Up! and I'm so glad I did. They are both very creative and you will love what they have in store for you next week!
And now we return to our regular scheduled programming...the sketch!
When I think of Valentine's Day, I think of how much I enjoyed crafting homemade valentine cards in school with paper, lace, stickers, and scissors! The paper always consisted of varying shades of pinks and reds with white or black. That, along with this sketch was my inspiration for this card.
I started out with Blushing Bride card stock and stamped with Real Red Ink the swoopy flower border at the bottom of the card. Not quite the curved edge from the sketch but it still has the swoopy curvy kinda feeling - right?

Then I added a layer of paper from the newly released Stacked with Love DSP Stack:
I don't think you can really see the awesome patterns in the image above - but it incorporates all the colors I love about Valentine's Day - whites, pinks, reds, blacks! The black border was punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.
I dug out my Fashionable Hearts Embosslits Die and die cut and embossed the heart. I stamped the greeting from Groovy Love with Real Red ink onto Blushing Bride card stock and cut out the banner with the Bitty Banner Framelits and popped it up with dimensionals. Then I added a couple of rhinestones at either end of the banner.

Great design. I can't believe you found a way to use that curvy banner die that I love. I have never used that die and you made me want to. I love the mix of supplies you used on this card, the banner stamp is perfect for the bottom edge. Great card! It was fun to read about your creative process too.
